I am an advocate for shelter dogs facing euthanasia at Miami Dade Animal Services. This adorable pup is Nigel. He is a 4-year-old, 68 lb bully who sat at a kill shelter for 484 days and overcame so many challenges. On 7/28/25, he was chosen for euthanasia and given 5 days to live due to his length of stay and lack of interest. The shelter decided it was time for him to be replaced with a new dog. He was posted on all social media platforms by advocates and received a lot of attention. We were so hopeful his human was out there somewhere. All we needed was to find that human. Sadly, despite the thousands of shares, his human was never found. We were nearing the end with only hours left. An advocate who had been following him closely made the decision to adopt him. There was no plan, but she couldn’t let this sweet boy die for reasons that were not his fault. Out with the old and in with the new was not the reason this happy, healthy dog gets euthanized. So she adopted him and immediately got him to a vet where he was examined, treated, and boarded. So far, she has been paying out-of-pocket and is running out of funds.

We are desperately searching for a foster and/or an adopter, but until then, he will need to stay in boarding. He is currently at Pet Express and is a staff favorite. They absolutely love him and can’t understand why sweet Nigel hasn’t found a home. The staff have also been helping with promoting him. I am creating this fundraiser to help cover the cost to keep Nigel at Pet Express while we continue searching for a foster and/or forever home. If we don’t get help to cover the cost for boarding, poor Nigel will be homeless. We can’t let that happen. I know there’s a human out there for this sweet boy.
