To Friends and Family of Nicole Murtha,
Our dear Nicole REALLY needs our immediate support and deepest prayers for her battle ahead.
A few months ago, Nicole became extremely ill and immediately sought out professional medical treatment. She spent a considerable amount of time in the hospital, where doctors and specialists monitored her symptoms closely.
On April 26th 2018, Nicole received heartbreaking news that she was diagnosed with End Stage Liver Disease. This disease is a life-threatening condition that demands urgent immediate medical care. She was told that the statistics for this diagnosis is that 50% of the people in this stage may remain alive for only a year.
The liver is the second largest organ in the body and has a very important job. It filters harmful toxins from the blood and converts food and fluids into the nutrients and energy for the body to survive. With End Stage Liver Disease, the liver loses all of its ability to keep the body alive. Nicole’s team of doctors attempted a special medicine treatment to stop the damage but were not successful. Once one’s liver reaches this stage, there is no medication that can cure or prevent the disease from progressing…A LIVER TRANSPLANT IS IMPERATIVE FOR NICOLE! HER LIFE IS ON THE LINE!
The many causes of liver disease include hepatitis, autoimmune disorders, cancer, obesity, alcohol, drugs, toxins, and genetics, etc.
In the midst of this, Nicole was also informed that she was born with Wilson's Disease. Wilson's Disease is a rare inherited disorder that causes copper to accumulate in the liver. Normally, copper is absorbed from your food and water, and discharged through the liver. However, people with Wilson's Disease are unable to eliminate copper effectively, thus causing it to accumulate to potentially life threatening levels in the liver.
Nicole is an incredible warrior, and is not ready to give up without a fight! She has been sober for four months and has two months to go until she is eligible to be placed on a liver transplant list. (Hopefully she’ll be an exception and be signed on sooner.) She has a very important meeting with the UCLA transplant team on August 10th!
Due to Nicole's illness, she will not be able to return to work anytime soon. Her insurance will cover only some of the expenses. We are graciously looking for your contributions towards her extensive hospital stays, doctor’s visits, medications, medical bills, and most importantly, A CHANCE TO BE THE RECIPIENT OF A LIVER TRANSPLANT, TO STAY ALIVE!
We all know Nicole's friends are far and wide and mean the world to her and she values their friendships. Nicole is always giving of herself and there for friends in their times of need. We appreciate any financial support you are able to extend to her at this most critical time. Please join us. Anything helps.
Nicole sends her love and appreciation in helping her fight her battle. Please reach out to others who you know would also want to help Nicole in her time of need.
Thank you and God bless ️❤️
