You may have visited Clovelly and stepped aboard the little red boat, feeding the seagulls, feeling the sea breeze, and listening to the fisherman’s stories of the village.
That boat was Neptune!
Neptune isn’t just a boat, she’s part of the very soul of Clovelly.
Built in Appledore in 1958, she came to Clovelly in 1970 and has been working here ever since.
Over the years she has been everything a village boat should be, taking passengers on trips, hauling lobster pots, long-lining, and fishing for herring.
She has carried thousands of visitors along our beautiful coastline and brought in hundreds of lobsters to support the community.
For more than fifty years, Neptune has been a faithful worker and a proud symbol of Clovelly’s fishing heritage. She has stood the test of time and has supported three generations through her hard work.
She is woven into the memories of locals and visitors alike, many who still remember their first trip to sea aboard her. She’s proper beautiful.
Now, after decades of loyal service, she needs our help. Without care and restoration, her story risks coming to an end.
We want to make sure that doesn’t happen. With your support, Neptune can be restored to continue her legacy, giving her another 10, even 20 years of life.
This means future generations can still experience the joy of stepping aboard her, and the village can continue to share its proud fishing traditions through her.
