Neb on the way to the ER yesterday after her first hospital. Details below.


My 6 year old curious, cuddly, hilarious little kitty, Nebula, was in critical condition all day yesterday after we brought her to her regular doctor because her appetite and energy had been slowly shifting and then, suddenly drastic.

The total cost for all tests and hospitalization to save her life (if all goes well) is estimated to be $6,100. Story below:

I could see in her eyes that she needed our help and, was scared that her lack of eating could be impacting her liver so I got a rush appointment, same day. The doctor told me she wasn't looking good right away; she was in critical condition. We took action without hesitation: we ran labs (blood, urine and vitals), x-rays and Leukemia//HIV tests (for a second time). We learned that she was severely anemic and would need to be transported right away to a specialty hospital's emergency room so that she could get blood transfusions to make her stable enough to give us the time to figure out what the source of the problem might be.  

The ER doctor told us that anemia could come from cancer, immune problems, infections or, "no cause found," which would result in us ending up right back when we started, only able to continue transfusions to keep her alive until we let go. 

We had to leave her in ER at the hospital last night for the transfusions to take place, followed by a massive amount of testing (my itemized invoice is pages) and ultrasounds to study all her organs and what was happening, even down to a cellular level. The poor baby was being poked and prodded but, continued to be such a trooper.

I will continue to give her ALL I have.

I put down the $4,000 deposit yesterday and costs are estimated to climb as she remains in intensive care. It's hard to give a shit about money when real life hits you hard. But this is a lot of money and, adds a layer of stress that I can't even process right now. 

In no way do I have this money to spend; but saying NO to saving my 6 year old cat's life was not a choice. 

My friends have continued to ask me how they can help. So, I came up with this. ANY size donation is the only thing I can think of. Nebula is a helpless kitten that needs things out of her reach (literally, money to save her life). If you have the ability to help the cause and make this even the smallest amount easier, we will be forever grateful. My cat healthy and happy will be the BEST birthday present I could ever ask for (July 6th).

I know in my heart she can do this but, I could use all the love and support of my people to remind me that positive thinking DOES mean something and that she’ll be spunky and playful again, cuddling up with me, meowing like a maniac and throwing her toys around the house again soon.
