Nala's Story:
Kathryn and Josh never thought they would ever make a gofundme. They adopted Nala, their 3-year old Pitbull when she was 6 weeks old. She immediately became the most important thing in their life. They have never left her longer than 24 hours and that was for our wedding day (only because there was a no dog policy…). They even brought her on our honeymoon… Nala has always been a healthy dog until 10/31, Nala suffered a grand mal seizure. After 2 vet visits days apart, they sent us home with antibiotics thinking her sezuire and dizziness was being caused by an inner ear infection. After days of Nala falling over when she walked and sat, they were told to bring her to an animal hospital immediately. At the animal hospital, they immediately knew she was misdiagnosed and we had a serious neurological problem. Kathryn and Josh were told the only way to figure out what was going on was a $5,000 MRI. It would tell us if she had cancer or if she had a brain disease. Without knowing, we wouldn’t know how to treat her. They gave us the option to treat her for the brain disease for a few months, but if that wasn’t what was going on it would be too late. They ultimately decided that we would spend the rest of our savings hoping to hear it was a brain disease that she would simply have to take medication for. She was then scheduled for an MRI less than 12 hours later. After what felt like a million hours we received a call we never imagined. Our 3 year-old baby girl has a large cancerous brain tumor.
Kathryn and Josh are thousands of dollars in and they are not ready to say goodbye. Nala has so much more life left to live. They have a great team of Neurologists and Oncologists that they are working with. They are working with The Veterinary Medical Center - University of Minnesota Oncology & Neurology. They have also been referred to a holistic vet to try Integrative Medicine.
Thank you for taking the time to read Nala’s story.
