My name is Nicholas Grigorov, and I’m from North Bay, Ontario.

I never thought I’d be writing something like this. My mom is currently fighting for her life in Costa Rica after a surgery that went horribly wrong. What was supposed to be a simple tummy tuck turned into a nightmare. Within two days, she developed sepsis — a life-threatening infection that spread through her body.

She’s now unconscious, intubated, and in critical condition in a Costa Rican ICU. Her kidneys are failing, her red blood cell count is dangerously low, and the doctors describe her condition as “delicate.”

My dad is flying there now to be with her. I’m here in North Bay with my younger brother Gabriel, my younger sisters Adrianna and Alex are in Ottawa and Vancouver respectively, and my two little nieces, Alaina and Hazel. We’re all terrified — praying every hour for a miracle and trying to find a way to bring our mom home to Canada where she belongs

The only hope we have now is to bring her home to Canada for proper treatment and recovery. But the cost of a medical air ambulance is overwhelming — between $80,000 and $150,000 CAD.

That’s why I’ve started this GoFundMe. Every dollar raised will go directly toward:

• Air ambulance transport from Costa Rica to Canada,

• Her immediate medical care and ICU costs, and

• Emergency expenses related to her recovery.

My mom is the kindest, most loving person I know. She’s always been the one to lift others up and point them towards Jesus— and now I’m begging for help to lift her up.
