Save My Mom - Help Kelly Parke Heal her Arm and Restore Life

Donation protected
My mom, Kelly Parke, is living in constant pain due to a frozen shoulder, a labral tear, and a mysterious growth that has doubled the size of her arm. She can’t move without agony and has lost her ability to work, create, or to fully care for herself. I’m asking for help to get her the MRI, treatment, and surgery she needs to heal and reclaim her life.

———

My name is Rebekah Shea Parke, and this GoFundMe is for my Mother, Kelly Parke, and her current medical emergency.

My birthday is fast approaching, and all I want, more than anything in the world, is to see my Mom taken care of.

She is currently living in a constant state of pain and agony with no end in sight due to her right arm. There are three known issues so far:
1. Frozen Shoulder (Adhesive Capsulitis)
2. Tear in Shoulder (Labral Tear)
3. Mysterious growth/lump doubling the size of her bicep (now affecting the use of her hand)

She cannot move without severe pain. Already battling a number of chronic illnesses, this development has left her almost completely incapacitated. She struggles even to use the restroom, let alone create like her artist’s heart longs to. She has put on a brave face every day of her life already, and I fear this may be what breaks her.

I’ve always seen myself as my Mother’s protector, and it’s torture to not be able to provide her relief. Living across the country, and with the funds I can send having little impact on her care, I’m asking my community, our community, to help me take care of my Mom, the only person I have.

My Mother was the only one in her family of seven to escape an abusive home. She ran away at 17 to start anew and went on to give my sister and me a life of safety and stability far away from the darkness she came from. She created a bubble of warmth, love, and protection. She deserves to see, in a moment like this, that God is still good—and that people are, too.

What’s Happening

Due to being unable to work in this condition, my Mom is currently without income and without insurance. As a self-paying patient, every visit requires upfront costs, and even getting to the next step means days of waiting, more pain, and more money.

Next Steps

The immediate and projected medical expenses are as follows:
• MRI with contrast (full arm and shoulder): $1,000 – $3,000
• Specialist consultations and diagnostic testing (including possible biopsy): $1,000 – $5,000
• Steroid injections for frozen shoulder: $500 – $1,000
• Physical therapy (8 weeks, 2–3 times per week): $2,000 – $4,000
• Potential surgery for severe capsule calcification and mass removal: $10,000 – $30,000+
• Recovery, medication, and post-op care: $2,000 – $5,000

This puts the estimated cost of her recovery between $17,000 and $43,000, depending on how complex her diagnosis and treatment become.

Every single contribution, no matter how small, will go directly toward her medical expenses, diagnostics, and rehabilitation. I’ll be sharing updates here as we move through each step of her treatment.

My Mom has spent her entire life serving others. Organizinf fundraisers for neighbors who lost their homes in fires, feeding the hungry, and showing up for anyone in need. I’m asking that same kindness be reflected back to her now.

If you’ve ever believed that kindness can be medicine, please help me remind my Mother that she is not forgotten. Please help me remind her that goodness, grace, and God are still alive in people.

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart,
Rebekah Shea Parke

FAQ
• We were able to fund an initial MRI, which revealed issues in her shoulder. However, the doctor failed to order a full-arm MRI with contrast, meaning we now have to pay for another one to properly identify the mass.
• Kelly Parke does not qualify for handicap assistance because her condition is deemed “fixable”, even though she cannot currently function independently.
