Emergency: Keep Former Federal Contractor's Family Together

From Crisis to Survival

Last year, your incredible generosity raised almost $4000 , which provided a temporary lifeline during the federal shutdown. Our family was able to move most of our things to storage and to keep our fur family members together. We are back because that storm never fully passed—it turned into a flood.

We are currently homeless and living an extended-stay hotel in Florida with our beloved pets, which is costing about $100 every single night. This is unsustainable, and we are now facing a "perfect storm" of new deadlines that threaten to take away our income, my son's education, and our health. Being unhoused has more than doubled our monthly expenses.

The Critical Deadlines (January 2026)

• Job Security & The "Internet Trap" ($500): As a federal contractor, my job is my only path out of this. However, my employer requires high-speed, highly secure internet. The hotel’s shared Wi-Fi is inadequate, and without a dedicated connection like Starlink, I will lose my job. We need $400 for equipment and the first month of service to keep my paycheck coming. My deadline for this is January 16th. I will lose my job if I am not connected.

• Education at Risk ($387): My son is a dedicated AP student, but his second-semester AP course fee of $387 is due January 9th. If it isn't paid, he will be dropped from the classes he needs for graduation and his future.

• Health Insurance Cliff ($1,496): By January 15th, a massive premium is due. Without it, my son loses coverage for his complex Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) and specialized medical care, and I lose access to the specialists who treat my arthritis and Hashimoto's. Because I am still working, and Florida did not expand Medicaid, we are not eligible for Medicaid or much help.

• Legal Injustice: A court ruling was recently issued against me in the eviction hearing that was started during the shutdown and for which the Clerk of the Court told me the wrong date. They told me the hearing was January 9; the hearing was December 10. This "surprise" record is now preventing me from being approved for any permanent housing. We need funds for legal filing fees, counsel and to fight this and clear my name as I work with HUD and GCEO to bring Pegasus Residential to justice for illegally evicting us.

How Your Donation Will Be Used:

We have set a goal of $5,000 to bridge this gap and provide a "Fresh Start" fund:

1. Safety & Shelter: 30 days of hotel costs while we work with legal aid to fix the housing record and have money to secure a new home.

2. Tools for Work: Starlink hardware and service to ensure I stay employed.

3. Pet Supplies: We are in desperate need of cat and dog food and cat litter. I managed to keep us together, but the daily cost of living like this is exorbitant, and the pets are stressed.

4. My Son’s Future: AP course fees and the completion of his urgent dental work.

5. Health & Mobility: The January insurance premium, prescriptions and essential car repairs so we can reach medical specialists, access storage and find a new home.

Our Family Cannot Be Divided

I have fought to keep my son safe and our pets out of shelters. We are exhausted, but we are not giving up. Please help us stabilize our family so we can move from a hotel room back into a home.

Every dollar, every share, and every resource counts.
