Leo’s results are in-Thank you all!

Don protégé
This is the final update for now. So happy.

So Leo does have Cancer, but the type, Acanthomatosus ameloblastoma, is a slow growing Cancer that usually doesn’t Metastasize. If the Margings were caught early enough, it may not return. It can return, but we will keep our eyes open.

He is doing well. I removed pain meds, 3days post op.

He’s still in soft diet and antibiotics and he’s 10, so he sleeps a lot.

Thank you to everyone who helped Leo and I through this. He is my best friend and family !
July 24,2025

Hello friends and family. We are almost there but we need a little push. Leo will probably be having Surgery the week of July 28, but we simply can’t until we reach our goal. Please Donate and share this to family and friends

we are overwhelmed with generosity and are with a thousand of our goal now. If everyone shares it one more time we will get there. Leo’s tumour is twice the size as a few weeks ago. We go Monday for bloodwork to ensure his ability to have surgery, but we have to do this. Asap. Thank you again

we also have about 300 in cash donations. I will check the account. Amazing
love you all.

cindy, Leo, Ricky, Ralph and the Fullers.

The actual goal is 2800.00 Go fund me changed it, I’m not sure why?

please take a look at all pictures. One you can clearly see the indent in Leo’s tongue where his teeth are pressing on the tumour.
the first show how large it’s grown since we found it few weeks ago .

we really need help asap to reach our 2800.00 goal. Quote from vet available.

Hello, my name is Cindy Monk Fuller and I am fundraising to save my dogs Life. Some of you may know me, Cindy Monk Fuller founder of Community Angels Toronto.

A few weeks ago I was looking at my dogs mouth from afar and noticed his tongue was looking strange. On further examination, it was not his tongue, it was a Tumour. We took him to my vet and on just sight alone, she was unable to determine if it was benign, or Cancer.
army Veterinarian does not do surgery and we would need either give him a short acting anesthetic to put him to sleep long enough to get a sample of tissue or general anesthetic to excise the tumour and clear the margins of teeth touching it and sending the tumour itself to the lab.

I have quotes for both options
one is 800-1,000 and excising option two ranging to 2,800 as it is a full surgery including some tooth removals.

If I do number one, it only tells me if the tumour is cancerous, in which case I will leave Leo to just live his best life without chemo until he has no quality of life, then let him go..

Either way, cancer or not, if we don’t remove the tumour, it is already growing rapidly and is rubbing on his teeth and his upper teeth and lower are starting to touch it. If I don’t remove it, it will be difficult to feed him safely and even just lying around could puncture the tumour causing alot of bleeding, pain and then possible constant infection or worse.
So in order to try and give him the best possible life until we can no longer, buying him quality and time, I must do option 2, surgery.

The back story on Leo.

Leo just turned 10 in March. He was from a breeder originally and his dad was some kind of champion I was told. The lady who bought him found quickly that, as she is a quadriplegic and her care giver we believe was abusing him, she decided to give him away.

She posted in the Beaches Facebook page and asked people to apply by writing a letter. My three sons had just lost our previous dog and I loved Golden retrievers (he’s an English golden-white) so we applied and she picked us.

From his apparent abuse in his early months, and having been feed raw chicken we initially had problems. We were advised to possibly give him up as he was aggressive and guarding food. We took him to Humane society for training him and over time we worked very hard with him and he became a sweet, loving dog.

During COVID I got very sick and subsequently he spent good part of his life being my companion. I have other pets but there is something about Leo that he reads me-and put up with the lack of activity because we could no longer go to the beach for swims due to my health issues. I have credited for him saving my life more than once.
I have to now try to save him!!!

all my pets are well feed quality food, are well looked after & are always up to date on all needed vaccines etc.

The money part is hard though, I will explain:

First just in regular vet bills this last month I have spent 470.00 last week without primary vet and 120.00 for second opinion with vet who can do the surgery.

I am on retirement pension only and recently found out we had a snag in our retirement funds in general. I can discuss privately, but it is my responsibility in the combined income in the home to pay vet bills. There are no extra funds.

When we got Leo and our pugs, I was working in my own business which ended before retirement age due to my Covid and Long Covid. I never really worried about these issues of vet bills because, when I got my dogs, I insured them with Trupanion.
Full coverage. At the time this expense was mine, then during Covid my husband took it over. He was still working. Last fall I found out there were some extenuating issues I was not aware of and he let the insurance lapse after we paid it for 10 years as he felt it was too high for him being retired, but that was why I bought it, not for good times, but for exactly this issue.

Being unable to pay for vet bills when the dogs had catastrophic illness or injury we could not afford

And here we are. It’s like trying to get life insurance when your facing death!

Anyway, this is where we are. My dog needs to remove this tumour or his life will be in danger. Even this issue will become life threatening, cancer or not.

I need help please. From my years of fundraising for my own non profit helping thousand of people and pets over 12 years, I know, any and all amounts help
if you don’t want to do go fund me donation, you can email funds, just send me a not here

I retired from angels after Christmas 2023 but still do some work for others.
The bank account is still open and keeps the funds separate from my normal account.

It doesn’t matter to me which way I am helped. I can also offer the Vet information to donate directly to Leo’s account and if you email me at the address above, I am happy to send you the quotation.

Thank you for Reading!
