As of today August 15th, 2021 Taliban has taken over the capital; Kabul. The government has fallen and the president has escaped the country. My family is more in danger now that Taliban can directly harm them. It is a matter of days or maybe minutes for my family to be recognized and punished because of working for the government. Who knows what that punishment will be but it is not far from simply being executed by the savage and ignorant Taliban.

My name is ............................. and I am 21 years old. I am a peace activist and an artist living in Toronto right now. I crossed the border to come to Canada as an asylum seeker in June 2019. I am a conventional refugee right now waiting for my permanent residency (PR). I spend my time battling with mental health and trying to figure out a way to save the lives of my family. It is a big responsibility but possible by your help and donations.

I am trying to help my family get out of a serious threat from terrorists in Kabul, Afghanistan. We will help them move out to a safe third country (Turkey at this point) as soon as possible. They will settle into a refugee camp or just rent a house and stay there until my sister and I become able to sponsor them in future.

In an incident, my brother ................................., 38 years old and the only member who provides for the family, was attacked brutally by some armed men and ended up in hospital in the region. This happened with the armed men trying to kidnap and kill him after a series of phone calls asking him to share information on the government employees that my brother has access to through his work. My brother has refused and still faces these threats. The unknown armed groups threatened to find the addresses where he worked and the address of the house where the whole family lived, and threatened to kill him and the rest of the family if he refused to share the information with them.

My family moved to a different address one night after this incident but they are still under a series of calls that threaten them. The company he is part of, also has changed their address and hired security guards now. My brother works from home right now but it is limited and with way less payment. My family now is struggling financially and getting a job for the rest of the family is limited due to this and COVID-19.

You can help save their lives by donating as much as you can so that we reach our goal of fundraising $21,000. This amount includes flight tickets from Afghanistan to Turkey and visa cost of $3,000 per person. There are seven family members left in Afghanistan to be saved.

He was hit on the head with the back of a gun but miraculously succeeded to run away bleeding and injured in the dark and called the police on the way. He ended up being hospitalized for a few days. The offenders of this incident stole and took away his backpack but luckily my brother did not have his laptop in it.

Besides getting threatened specifically, my family also are under bombings and genocide from Taliban, ISIS and the government because we belong to a minor ethnic group called the Hazaras. One of the examples of Hazaras genocide is the recent bombing of girls school in Dasht-e- Barchi. Even though I am struggling with mental health, at least I am alive here. I will have a worse life if I lose one or all of my family members. So please help me save their lives.
