Save my cat shelter
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Henry, and for more than 4 years now, I have run a small cat shelter out of my own pocket, taking in unwanted cats and financing their medical needs, food, and of course a home to live in. This has been possible after I bought a large, old, rural house cheaply, giving them plenty of space to live and play, and letting me set up a good, solid budget for the care and feeding of these animals. As of today, I have saved or helped save close to 100 animals, several of whom are so unwanted that I have simply given them a permanent home here. I have no idea how to explain what it means to me to give happy lives to animals that the world saw fit to let die in the streets or be put to death simply because they were never wanted. All the troubles and pains I have gone through will always be worth it to look into the eyes of some previously discarded angel and tell it "you'll have a good life, because you deserve it". It's hard to explain to someone, unless they have felt the same themselves...
What I could not have predicted was several less than honest vets that took advantage of my admittedly naive work, causing my budget to bloat until I started having trouble keeping the place running, and several expected donors who bailed out at the last second (some due to the current COVID-19 situation, but many not...). Faulty vaccines, overpriced treatments, poor advice, broken promisses, and other issues have now finally pushed me into debt, causing the future of my shelter, and the fate of the many animals I still provide a loving home for, to become unclear.
Although I have spent over $25,000 of my own money over the years, only $5000 have gone beyond my set budget, and while I always welcome donations, I have no ambitions to do more than fix my shelter's debt so I can safely continue my work with the _honest_ vets I now luckily work with. I do not even expect most of that debt to be settled through donations, either, but I hope to at least make a dent in it.
Any help means more than you could possibly fathom. These are the animals that even the big shelters will not take, the truly unwanted ones, many too old, too vulnerable, too nervous, or simply not pretty or unique enough to be easily put up for adoption. I sadly know that I am the last chance for nearly all of them.
I would love to offer some great and impressive incentives for anyone willing to help, but the best I can offer is personalized photos and videos of the animals under my care. For every $1 donated, you will receive a unique, personalized picture of one or more of the cats, with a thank you added especially for you. For each $5, you can then select a cat to be put in a personalized video, 1 minute long per $5 donated (so donating $20 will be a 4 minute long video of at least 4 cats, for example), complete with the stories of the cats. I hope this, and the knowledge of how immense a difference every donation makes, will be enough incentive for people to help me help these animals.
Thank you,
Sincerely, Henry.
