As many of you know, I live right above my business. It isn’t just my livelihood; it’s my home. I never thought I’d be in a position where I’d have to start a GoFundMe, but the ongoing road construction and constant detours have pushed me to the brink. Since September, I’ve faced unannounced closures and zero communication from the city. At one point, I was forced to close for seven straight days because customers literally couldn't reach my door. I’ve reached out to everyone—from the Mayor and IDOT to the Governor’s office. While Senator Rachel Ventura’s office is trying to help, the support for small businesses we’re always promised just hasn't arrived. I am fighting to stay alive in a situation that is completely out of my control. These closures are projected to last until 2028. My dream was once to own this building; now, my dream is simply to survive without losing everything.
