Save Muffin: Urgent Medical Care Needed

As many know, my sweet girl had an extremely severe heat stroke while at day training on a 2 hour walk when it was over 80° on August 12th, 4 days shy of turning 8 months old. After I was notified she had over heated my dad picked her up for me, Muffin was in critical condition, severely dehydrated and needed help asap. She was taken to an emergency veterinary hospital right away where she was admitted. Unfortunately a lot of time had passed before she was able to get help which affected her organs. At MedVet she was diagnosed with heat stroke, kidney injury, G.I shock, pneumonia which caused her to aspirate and the list unfortunately went on. After 5 days and over $11,000, the money was exhausted and she had to be taken home against medical advice. Shortly after bringing her home from MedVet we knew something still wasn’t right as we couldn’t even get her to eat. While attempting to get funds for a feeding tube Muffin lost almost 20lbs rapidly. For a week and a half we had her under close veterinary watch while we worked (thanks to our amazing angels at Lisner Animal Hospital) where they discovered a mass that suddenly appeared in her abdomen, she was immediately rushed back to MedVet where she ended up back in ICU, it turns out it was a result of intestinal Intussusception. Where a segment of the intestine “telescopes” or slides into another segment, creating a blockage causing those segments to go necrotic. Muffin underwent emergency surgery where she had 60% of her intestines removed, now we watch for symptoms of Short Bowel Syndrome.
I am extremely grateful I can finally say we have her home with us recovering. she still requires around the clock care, cannot be left alone and is on a lot of medication. She’s a fighter and miracle to say the least but she still has a long way to go and with the costs totaling over $25,000 so far, after depleting our wedding funds we are now severely struggling financially and we need all the help we can get in completing Muffins recovery, affording her after care and paying the remaining $9,000. I know times are tough for everyone right now so if you are unable to donate, even just sharing this or sending positive thoughts and or prayers would mean so much to us as little Muffins fights not over yet. To everyone who has donated, prayed and shared I can’t even begin to express how grateful we are for all of the support we have received, we are truly blessed.
