Save Mr. Scribbles
Hello!
My name is Becky, and my roommate's name is Steven. The other handsome fellow in the cover photo for this page is our rescue cat, Mr. Scribbles, and he is the reason we are starting this fundraiser!
I found Mr. Scribbles roaming our neighborhood shortly after moving into our apartment two years ago. I was sitting outside, and he came straight up to me and jumped in my lap. Over the next two years, we began feeding him while he worked his say into our hearts and our home. He's turned into the joy of our lives and a part of our little family. It became clear we needed to bring him to the vet to see if he was chipped, and to investigate some concerns we had with his health.
We noticed from the beginning that Mr. Scribbles had evident problems with his mouth. He exhibited extreme paint with eating his food, so we began blending down wet foods for him into watery liquids he can drink. We also noted loss of appetite, fowl breath, and excessive drooling. And because of Mr. Scribbles' extreme oral pain, he had problems grooming himself, causing him to have a difficult-to-groom, matted coat and ragged appearance. We began using a CBD extract, which seemed to help with some of his pain, and bought a specialty grooming brush to help him with his hygiene, but his health and ability to eat and take care of himself rapidly declined.
After bringing Mr. Scribbles into the VCA to see if he was chipped, we brought him into The Fix Machine Animal Health Clinic, because they offered quality procedures for pets to people like Steven and I, who have low incomes. At the clinic, we learned that Mr. Scribbles had severe Stomatitis, a condition effecting % 0.4-%7.0 of felines. More information on the condition can be found here . In addition, our poor Mr. Scribbles was diagnosed with Feline HIV, the life expectancy for which the vet told us 8 years, so long as he had a caring and stress-free environment. The vet recommended full extraction of his teeth, and ensured us that us that even with no teeth Mr. Scribbles would be able to live a much more comfortable, happy, and long life! We were thrilled with this news, and with the opportunity to help the kitty that has a special place in our hearts. After careful discussion between Steven, the vet, and myself, we decided and extraction procedure would be well worth the price.
The news that was harder to swallow was the fact that Steven and I need to pay an estimated $1,500.00 for this procedure, in addition to the $500.00 we paid for his visit, full vaccinations, blood-work, and anti-inflammatory medications we are administering in order to improve Mr. Scribbles pain and eating. This was a hard blow to take, because even with our combined incomes, Steven and I just don't have the means to pay for the cost. This is why we need your help!
100% of the funds we raise will go towards Mr. Scribbles dental procedure, with any additional funds we may raise will go towards his after-procedure care, medications, diet, and hygiene/grooming needs. Anything you can spare is so appreciated by Steven, Myself, and our sweet Mr. Scribbles!
