Help Save My Aunt, Samita Bhattarai – A Mother Fighting for Her Life

My name is Anisha Poudel, and I am reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for your help in saving my aunt, Samita Bhattarai. She is not just my aunt—she is a mother, a wife, and a fighter.

Samita Bhattarai, 38 years old, has been battling Myasthenia Gravis, a severe neuromuscular disease, for the past four years. She has been in and out of hospitals, but her condition has worsened. She is currently in ICU at Teaching Hospital, Kathmandu, on ventilator support. Doctors are doing everything they can, but she remains in critical condition.

Samita is the mother of a 4-month-old baby girl, Sanvi, who has never truly known the warmth of her mother’s love. Since Samita has been hospitalized, her elder sister has been taking care of the baby. But without her mother, Sanvi’s future is uncertain.

Samita’s husband, Aasish Bhattarai, was wrongly imprisoned in Dubai for 10 years. After just a month of marriage, he went abroad for work to support his family. One day, his own roommate asked him to hold a bag for a few minutes. Unknowingly, that bag contained illegal drugs, and before he could understand what was happening, he was arrested. He spent 10 years in prison for a crime he did not commit because he didn’t know English or Arabic to defend himself. After 12 years, he finally returned to Nepal, only to discover he was losing his eyesight due to an irreversible medical condition.

Before falling sick, Samita worked hard to run a small shop to support her family. But her illness forced her to shut it down, leaving her with no income, no savings, and no way to provide for her child.

Samita needs immediate medical treatment, and her family is struggling to cover the cost. Any support, big or small, will go directly toward her life-saving treatment and her baby’s care.
