Save Morrocan Cats

Hi i’m Erin and all animals, especially cats, hold a special place in my heart.
I have been on holiday in Morroco this week and have been heartbroken by the suffering of the animals here.
Everywhere we look, we see kittens and cats limping, skinny, dirty and in pain.
It appears that the local people try their best to help the cats, but it is not a financial priority, and there are little to no organisations who can provide them necessary care ( vaccinations, sterilisations and veterinary aid ).
Yesterday, I found a cat on the road who had passed away. A sweet, three legged orange tabby. I went with some local boys to bury him. It clearly wasn’t the first cat they had had to bury. They were numb to it, but it broke my heart.
All these cats want is love. They trust humans with all their hearts, but the people let them suffer and die, simply because they have no choice.
Near to our accommodation, there was a box of kittens next to a fruit stand. The men were clearly helping the kittens but they didn’t have much themselves. I came to visit the kittens all day every day and befriended the men using google translate to talk to them. I especially fell in love with one particular kitten who just wanted cuddles and slept in my arms with all her trust. They told me the kittens lost their Mum and they were rearing them.

This morning, we heard a kitten squealing.
We came downstairs and saw that my favourite kitten had been hit by a car, and her back paw was broken. It shattered our hearts.
Instantly, we found a driver to take us to the nearest cat charity half an hour away. When we got there, it was derelict.
Clearly, there had been a huge lack of funding. It was run down, infested with fleas and abandoned.
But we wouldn’t give up on that baby cat.
With help of locals, we found another place which would help us.
We arrived at a humble home where a kind lady named Renatta was looking after dogs and cats. She was knowledgeable and had the right medications for our sweet girl. She said it is possible for us to take her home, but it will take 7 months or more, and will cost hundreds of pounds. We are prepared to spend that on our sweet girl, but we also feel as though a further donation to Rennata would be amazing, as her work is so honourable.
She has kept the kitten and is treating her, with hopes she will arrive in England when she is ready, and can be ours forever.
We have her contact and will be keeping in touch until then.
It is my dream to do what she does in the future. I hope to help as many animals as possible in my lifetime.
So please, if you can, donate some money which we can send to Renatta and help more animals in need.

Thank you.
