My name is Kirstin, and I'm reaching out in a moment of desperate need for my two beloved boys, Monkey and Dashel. These aren't just pets; they are my children, my world, and truly all I have. Having never had children of my own, the bond I share with these two is immeasurable. They just celebrated their second birthday, and I've had them both since they were tiny 8-week-old puppies, brothers from the same litter.
This morning, Sunday, July 13th, at 5 AM, my worst nightmare began. Monkey and Dashel started showing severe signs of illness. I rushed them to the emergency vet, where we discovered they had ingested Amanita phalloides, a highly toxic mushroom. The vet explained that these dangerous mushrooms can have a "fishy" smell that attracts dogs, and sadly, my boys fell victim to it.
Their condition was so critical that both Monkey and Dashel had to be intubated immediately. They are currently in the hospital receiving intensive care. Poison control advised the vets to treat them with Atropine, and the medical team is doing everything they can to save them.
The financial burden of this emergency is overwhelming. As a disabled individual on a fixed income, I am simply not able to cover the immense costs of their treatment. Just to get them admitted and started on care, I had to pay a $1,500 deposit for each dog, totaling $3,000, and that's just the beginning. Any funds raised will go towards saving my babies
It's incredibly difficult and frankly, embarrassing, for me to ask for help, but I will do absolutely anything to make my babies better. Monkey and Dashel are not just dogs; they are my family, my purpose, and my reason for being. Any contribution, no matter how small, will directly go towards their life-saving medical treatment and bring us one step closer to bringing my boys home.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for considering helping my precious Monkey and Dashel.
