Hello everyone — this is my kitty, Mittins! Something awful (the unthinkable) happened while she was in someone else’s care on October 13th: her back leg was twisted and broken in half. The emergency vet did their best to set and cast it, but during yesterday’s follow-up X-ray, we learned the break has actually worsened. Her leg is STILL in two pieces and now so misaligned that it has no chance of healing in a cast.

At this point, the only options are an orthopedic surgery to pin the bones back into place or amputation. The doctor stressed leaving her as she is would be inhumane, as she has been in significant pain this entire time. I’ve scheduled her amputation for this Monday, the 24th, so she can finally get relief.

This is now a race against time, but at my daughters request and last-ditch effort to save her leg— I’m asking for your help. The corrective surgery costs roughly $9,000, which is impossible for us right now, especially while I’m unemployed. If we can’t raise enough for the surgery, all donations will go toward the cost of her amputation, estimated at $2,937.
