Save Miso

Miso has just turned 1 this January, but out of the blue on Sunday February 2nd, she woke me up pacing up and down the bed shaking and bowing. She then proceeded to throw up and continue to shake.

We rushed her to the emergency vet who took blood work and did an X-Ray. Her blood work was largely normal, bar her LIPA values which were 2159 instead of in the range of 200 - 1800 U/L

Her X-Rays also showed what could be a blockage just below her stomach but the vet couldn't be conclusive because there was no ultrasound tech on hand to confirm.

So we were presented with three possibilities:
1. Miso has pancreatitis
2. Miso has a partial blockage
3. Miso has pyometra

The vet said her x-ray didn't appear to indicate pyometra but vomiting can be a side effect of that in unspayed females.

She prescribed prilosec to help Miso's tummy if it were pancreatitis along with a bland diet for a week.

However, Miso has not stopped vomiting despite her prilosec medicine and bland diet. She has also been struggling to poop as well.

Pancreatitis, when acute, typically starts to resolve in 1-2 days, but this is past that and I am now petrified she does in fact have a blockage.

My roommates already helped me get care credit for her initial emergency vet treatment, and I am so grateful, but for further examinations and likely treatment they cannot help further.

I don't want to lose Miso because I can't afford her emergency care right now. She means the world to me, and is my best friend who has kept me constant company in this country which isn't my home.

I need to get her back to the vet as soon as possible because partial blockages kill pets within 3-4 weeks, and can also do unspeakable damage during that time.

I would be eternally grateful for any and all support for Miso. She is such a bright little gem of a dog and I don't know how I've gone so long in my life without her that the thought of losing her destroys me.
