Hi my name is Linda , my loyal old girl Kelpie who’s 14 ( 89 in human years ) sudden collapsed on the long weekend and I thought she had died in that instance. So distressing . I rushed her to the vet with the help of my beautiful neighbour and after many tests late into Friday night she was diagnosed with a large apple size mass 4cm on her spleen and an enlarged heart with a cardio problem myocarditis which is causing her to faint / fall unconscious . She has had further heart tests an ECG and an echocardiogram and heart halter monitor which diagnosed heart disease and tachycardia which she’s now on medication to treat . She’s had x rays , ultrasounds and blood tests to discern if it’s safe to operate to remove the spleen and test for cancer as it’s undetermined is benign or malignant. The only good news is it has not spread ( metastasised) to any other organs and her blood tests are clear. The bad news is if the spleen mass ruptures she will bleed internally and that will take her life . Her enlarged heart needs to be stablilized if possible and she’s on heart medication and directics to prevent fluid forming in her lungs . So far the costs for the tests and meds has been $2390 and she needs more plus possibly surgery if possible before the tumour bursts or metastasis if malignant . Please help me have the option to help her and give her another chance at life and quality of life especially. She’s my loyal old muster dog that has been my companion and therapy dog for 14 years. I can’t get the image of her unconscious in my arms on the long weekend as my heart and head raced how to best get her medical attention. She has good days and bad days and my biggest fear is the spleen will rupture before the heart is stablised . She is booked for review on the 24th June but the bills have wiped me out and I’m praying I can raise some funds for an operation and ongoing medications that are for life . Some days she can get out of bed and go more than to the front door and back but today she want to go the park and she trotted around very sprightly and and with renewed energy and enthusiasm which gives me hope the heart medication is working and an operation to remove the affected spleen may be possible soon . Thank you for taking the time to read our plight . Dogs are family , I don’t have children so she’s my baby ❤️‍
