Millie, my baby, my best friend, has been fighting for her life. I had to rush her to the vet Monday morning because she had a high fever and was not moving or eating. She became increasingly unwell and distressed. The vet couldn't figure out what was wrong, but said she needed a blood transfusion as soon as possible. I then rushed her to the emergency vet where the likely conclusion was that she had somehow been poisoned.

Millie has the sweetest soul and the most loyal, playful energy. I adopted her in Sept. 2023 after attending my psychiatrist's funeral in Lubbock, TX. If y'all know me, you know that I suffer from depression. This dog saved me just as much as I saved her.

Millie goes into work with me every day, serving as a secondary therapist to all my patients. She sits on the couch and reaches out her "helping paw" to others in need. Now I am asking for a "helping hand" from my fellow humans.

On the weekends Millie enjoys going to concerts with me (while wearing her doggie headphones). She is an art connoisseur, appreciating galleries and supporting local artists. Her favorite stores are Jerry's Artarama, Home Depot and Petsmart of course.

Millie goes everywhere with me. She's my shadow.

Her vet bills have come to over $5,000. The veterinarians said that her prognosis is very hopeful, and she does not have any other underlying health conditions.

For a dog who saved my life and who has been there every day for all my patients - Well, I'm doing everything I can to try to save hers.
