Save Mildred: Our Brave Girl Deserves A Chance

Hi, my name is Ruby. I’m 18 years old, and I’m reaching out with the heaviest heart to ask for your help saving someone who means the absolute world to me, my dog Mildred.

Mildred is our beautiful Hungarian Vizsla who we’ve loved since she was just 8 weeks old. She’s due to turn 5 in May, but tragically, we’re now facing the fear that this birthday could be one of her last.

Mildred has been diagnosed with a rare and aggressive flesh-eating nasal bacterial infection. It’s not only painful and debilitating, it poses a serious risk of spreading to her brain if left untreated. We’ve tried everything we could, multiple medications, topical creams, endless vet visits, but nothing has worked. Her condition has only worsened, and watching her suffer each day has been heartbreaking beyond words.

Despite how brave and gentle she is, Mildred is clearly in pain. Her spark is fading, and it’s devastating to see her quality of life diminish. Our vet has told us that she urgently needs life-saving treatment, starting with a biopsy to properly assess the spread and plan for surgery and intensive care.

We immediately turned to our insurance provider, only to be told they would not cover the treatment costs. We were absolutely devestated. Without help, the full cost, beginning at £1500, is simply something my family and I cannot afford. As a young person doing everything I can, this is something I never thought I’d have to ask for.

That’s why I’ve created this GoFundMe page, for Mildred. For her life. For the chance for her to be the silly, affectionate, loving dog she’s always been again. She deserves so much more than what this illness is taking from her.
