Summary:
Mikko was hit by a car and suffered a pelvic fracture and internal bleeding. He requires life-saving veterinary care in order to recover.
Full Story:
My name is Andi and I live in Bragg Creek with my beautiful cat Mikko. If you live in Bragg you likely have met Mikko on one of his adventures. He loves being outside and is often found tromping through the forest and roaming the provincial park to make new friends (and sneak a few treats and pets). He is not only a beloved friend and companion of mine, but he has also won the hearts of so many who have encountered Mikko around the hamlet.
I am really sad to share that this past week Mikko was in a big accident. I am not fully sure what happened but the impact of his wounds indicate that he was likely hit by a car. My poor boy has a broken pelvis and is experiencing a lot of pain.
I have taken him to two vets to see how he can be helped. The first vet was not hopeful about a recovery and expressed that euthanasia was the only option. Mikko still is able to move his back legs and has feeling in his legs and paws as well. This option didn't feel right to move ahead with and so I sought out a second opinion. This second vet has taken x-rays and bloodwork to determine Mikko's injuries. She said that cat's are very good at healing and it is very possible that Mikko's major pelvis injury could be healed, although there are some complications and he will require lots of medical attention. If I want to continue treating Mikko's injuries and hope for his recovery, I need financial support to pay for his veterinary bills.
The veterinary care Mikko needs is a big cost and we are in need of support as the bills keep adding up. I have done everything I can to help Mikko the last few days but we are running out of time and options. If I cannot find a way to fund his continuing veterinary care, then I am left to make an impossible decision and consider euthanasia.
So here I am. I am humbly reaching out to my community and beyond to see if we can come together to save my baby boy and give him the life saving veterinary care he needs. He is only 6 years old and has so much life ahead of him that I want to give and have with him. Up until this point, Mikko has been very healthy, active, and full of vitality so I know he'd be able to recover well and still have a good quality of life with the proper support. If you have the means to support Mikko and I by donating toward his veterinary bills, we would be forever grateful.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read about my guy, Mikko Angelo. If supporting financially isn't possible, we will take all of the love and healing vibes you have!
