Hello, world. My name is Anastasia, and with my last shred of hope, I’m creating this page to ask for help. Help for my dad, Mike.
Over the past year and a half, my father has been suffering from an extreme, currently still undiagnosed medical condition. He has been to the hospital over 20 times in that time. Each time he goes to the ER, the only procedures they perform on him are to bill the insurance and nothing more. We have searched everywhere for medical personnel who could help but always get the finger, in return. Just this week, my father had to go to the hospital again. I urged my mother to drive him the distance to an inner city hospital, seeing as our local emergency centers were unable to help him due to limited expertise. Upon arrival after an hour and a half drive, he was forced to lay on the concrete, in the cold to wait to be admitted; screaming in terror and agony. Upon admission to the emergency room, the head doctor refused to see him and discharged him immediately after waiting four hours in the cold.
This is, by far, not the worst, reprehensible act of malpractice on him. Due to the neglect of the system of my father, due to our inability to pay for better insurance, my father is dying. He is no longer able to eat, drive me to school, and has lost over 35 pounds in lean muscle mass. He is a husk, and it breaks me.
We already had been dealing with a lot at home. My parent's business was stolen from them, and both of my parents have been fighting cancer in the past five years. The world has brought us down to our knees. We currently house five people in a tiny apartment, and now we face eviction. None of my parents are able to work due to their crippling medical conditions, and therefore subsistence and housing are becoming luxuries for my family and me rather than givens. The thought of homelessness becomes an increasingly harrowing reality. Sometimes the world seems cruel and unfair, but at the end of the tunnel, there is always a shining light. I have tried so hard to give my family that light, with good grades and emotional support. But, after everything, it becomes too much for one person to handle. I always believed in the incredible ability of people to come together and bring each other up. And now, in a desperate search for aid, I turn to the internet. I know often these things don’t work but, I have to try, it's the least I can do.
All proceeds will go to providing housing and medical care for my father. Anything helps tremendously and I will keep everyone updated. I have added a video down below to show you what his condition looks like in action. Please, watch at your own discretion. It is a VERY DIFFICULT watch. I personally can not watch it, it makes 2:31 seconds the longest they’ve ever been.
