8/19/25 Update: Keeping Meraki Alive = Saving More Dogs
We’re juggling 24 dogs right now (4 pulled from shelters + 8 from dire conditions, plus our current crew). Kennel cough is easing and everyone’s trending up, but the human is tired and the bills don’t pause.

Monthly basics to keep the haven open:

Mortgage (auto-drafted on the 1st): just under $2,500

Utilities (variable): ~$700
Total monthly: ~$3,200

Immediate priorities:

Hit the mortgage by the 1st so the haven stays put

Fix upstairs A/C freon leak + address water leaks/mold (opens rooms to rent + volunteer space)

Fencing & shop build-out so volunteers can help safely and we can say “yes” to more dogs

Every $10–$25 keeps food in bowls, meds on schedule, and the doors open for the next dog who needs us. If you can’t donate, sharing this post genuinely helps.

Help Save Meraki Animal Haven

A safe place for North Tulsa’s forgotten dogs—and the home that holds them.

Hi, I’m Brandy, founder of Meraki Animal Haven Society, a grassroots rescue I started from my home just before Thanksgiving. Since then, with no big team or big funding—just heart—I’ve helped save 13 dogs dumped or abandoned on the streets of North Tulsa.

Right now, 11 of those dogs are still with me, including a few placed here through rescue partnerships. While I may not be doing this totally alone, I am the one here every day—feeding, cleaning, giving meds, crate training, loving, and showing these pups they’re safe now.

The dogs are crate-trained for safety, rest, and routine
Each one gets outdoor time, playtime, and a calm place to decompress
They’re treated like family, not just another number

But now, this haven—and my home—is at risk.

What We’re Facing

After months of doing all I can to stay afloat, I’m now at a critical point:
I’ve fallen behind on mortgage payments
Basic household bills are stacking up (taxes, utilities, insurance)
And the dogs still need daily care, safety, and structure

The total goal of $30,000 would get us:

✔️ Current on the mortgage + property taxes
✔️ Cover a few months of essential bills (about $3,200/month including mortgage)
✔️ Begin addressing much-needed home repairs (roof leak and AC Freon leak biggest issues)
✔️ Optional future: Invest in 3 slate board dog treadmills to create income and keep dogs mentally/physically active (in time go mobile to help out the shelter dogs as well and market to apartment complexes) and outdoor activities for the dogs as we spend the majority of awake hours outside.

Even just helping reach the monthly need of $3,200 would create breathing room and keep the haven going while we work on building sustainability through sponsorships and community partnerships.

Why Meraki Matters

“Meraki” is a Greek word that means to put your soul, creativity, and love into what you do. That’s what this haven is: my heart, my soul, and my purpose.

Every dog here came from a place of fear and survival. Now they’re learning what it means to feel safe. To be seen. To be wanted.

This property has the potential to be more than just a home—it’s a future rescue hub.
High-traffic location (8,000+ cars/day)
Space for adoption events, transport partners, volunteer teams
Plans for a community animal food pantry
✂️ Hoping to partner with a groomer and local vendors to bring in support and foot traffic

I don’t want to give up on this mission—or on these dogs. But I can’t do it alone.

How You Can Help

Every donation—no matter the size—helps.
Whether it’s $5, $25, or $500, it truly adds up.

If 1,000 people gave just $30, we’d hit our goal.
If 300 people gave $100, we’d save the haven.

Even if you can’t give, please share this campaign. Every share could bring in the help that saves this safe space.

From the bottom of my heart—thank you for believing in Meraki, and in me. Together, we can keep this haven alive and grow it into something even bigger.

With love,
Brandy + the Meraki Pack
