Save Membo's Life

Our Ugandan adopted daughter Membo, who we consider to be our beloved girl, is in need of lifesaving surgery. She is literally starving to death. The photo on the left was taken while I was with her a month ago. The right is last week. Her bones are showing, and I barely recognize her face.
We just discovered that her body has a rare disorder called Achalasia Cardia with an intramural tumor. In short, her esophagus is not working, and has constricted at the top of the stomach, so no food or water can enter. She vomits anything she tries to swallow within 20 seconds. The damage done by the stomach acid and undigested food has caused a suspicious Lesion, which they are calling a Tumor. We are awaiting biopsy results to rule out cancer. In the meantime, she needs urgent surgery to open the muscle that is constricted in her esophagus to allow food and water to enter her digestive system. In Uganda, you cannot get surgery unless you pay FIRST. This is where we are asking for your help.
The surgery to open her esophagus is under $1000, however she is hospitalized, and we need to pay for that as well, and her after care, further appointments, medications, and transportation to a specialist. We are estimating $2000 to start with.
Membo is 14, and among the BRIGHTEST kids we have ever met. She loves Jesus and insists that He is going to heal her. She told us she is not afraid to die, but is afraid to die before she does what the Lord created her to do in her life. She wants to save the lives of children in her district and serve in the Government to create change for her community. She is quite remarkable. Membo is sponsored by myself, my husband Paul and two other remarkable families who love her dearly. We are all pooling our resources to make sure she gets the education she needs to be the change in Uganda.
