Mekdes underwent her first surgery at Silkroad Hospital in Addis Ababa, hoping for a cure. Sadly, the tumor persisted, leading to a second surgery. This time, there was a glimmer of hope as she started to recover. But the relief was short-lived. Instead of disappearing, the tumor continued to grow.

Despite enduring a third surgery, Mekdes's condition did not improve. She remains in the hospital, fighting each day while the tumor continues to threaten her life. The cost of her treatment is staggering, and her family has exhausted all resources. They have sold everything they own to pay for the three surgeries.

Current Situation

Mekdes's doctors have now suggested that she needs to go abroad for a fourth surgery, as her condition requires specialized treatment not available in Ethiopia. She remains in the hospital, where the daily cost is $800. The financial burden is overwhelming, and despite the generous help from the people of Awasa and Addis Ababa, it is not enough.
