Save Meika's Leg: Surgery Fund Needed

I’m starting this fundraiser on my mom’s behalf in regards to her fur baby, Meika. Meika is a German Shepard with a loving and spunky personality. On Saturday evening November 23rd she was hit by a car on the private dirt road where she lives and wonders freely. The driver was unaware they hit her and kept going, my mom and I rushed her to the emergency vet in Burlington Vermont and found out that her front leg is broken in two places and she has some teeth that are broken and need to be pulled before infection sets in.

The surgery is estimated to be around $6,000 to $8,000, not including the expenses of travel to wherever the surgery will take place and the casts to be put on every few days until surgery can happen. With the holidays right around the corner this is very devastating for the whole family. The only other option would be to amputate the leg and that just seems unfair to meika if the leg can be saved.. Meika loves to run and explore freely in the woods by her home, if the leg has to be amputated it would affect her ability to do what she loves to do.
