McCord Coney Island displays memorabilia honoring veterans year-round, including a 38-foot wall banner honoring 90 DeVilbiss High graduates who fought and died in World War II as the centerpiece as noted in a recent Toledo Blade article.
When you visit McCord Coney Island you will notice the 8ft by 10ft American flag, and dozens of military hats hanging from the ceiling. You will be greeted like you are family when you walk in the door.
Ahmad is also known for supporting local fundraisers such as the Lucas County Pit Crew and plently more. If you walk into the diner you would see all the t-shirts he has collected from making donations.
Ahmad helps the community by feeding about 200 people at a charity breakfast at Sylvania’s Stranahan Elementary in November 2019.
Ahmad donated to PAWS forces in January 2019, and he donated to Honor Flight. Ahmad also donated 550lbs of meat to the Cherry St mission in 2018.
Unfortunately because of the Corona Virus Pandemic and the long term Dorr Street construction in front of his diner he is struggling financially. He is $15,000 behind in rent. Unfortunately if we can't find a way to help Ahmad and his business then he will have to close his doors permanently in July.
Please make a donation and/or help support Ahmad right now. He is open Monday thru Thursday 10am to 3pm daily. Friday 10am to 6pm. Saturday and Sunday 10am to 3pm.
