Meet Mazzy. Mazzy was rescued just before Halloween this year at approximately 4 weeks from a boy who brought a bag of kittens to Powderhorn Park in Minneapolis, MN by my daughter. NOW Mazzy is in need of help beyond what I can do to save all her paws.
Last night, Mazzy was hiding on the top step of our basement stairs. As I stepped out onto the first step, I stepped on her, sending us both rapidly down the stairs. While I have merely a sore elbow tip, Mazzy suffered a broken femur. Two options: surgery or amputation.
Mazzy is affectionately known in our household as Spazzy Mazzy as she gets the zoomies harder than I’ve ever seen a kitten or any other animal. I am sure she will be fine as a tripod, but at (maybe) 10 weeks, she has a lot more life ahead of her intact if she can. Splinting the upper bone is not an option, per the vets we’ve seen. Our family will struggle to raise the amount for amputation, but we will. However, the surgery is predicted to be 3-4 times as much and is not an option. Mazzy's appointment for amputation is set for 01/16 at 7:30 AM. Hopefully, I don’t know, but maybe we can come together to save the leg and get her the full surgery she needs to remain intact? Thanks, I don’t know what more to say. -Brett
