Our sweet boy has had a very traumatic week. Maverick had emergency surgery on Friday April 4. What they thought was a tumor was actually a foreign object. After a 3 1/2 surgery and a 3 day stay with the vet we thought he was in the clear. Maverick did amazing up until Thursday April 10th. 6 days after his surgery. His wound came open. What we thought would just be a few stitches turned into a life threatening infection. It was an absolute blessing we brought him with us to Tennessee because we ended up at tricounty veterinary and Dr Biggs and her staff saved Mavericks life. The infection was the worst they had seen especially in a dog his size. They had to remove a lot of necrotic tissue and put in a drain in yet another 3 1/2 hour surgery. Maverick is on 3 different antibiotics and can't be released from the vet until the drain can come out safely. For this reason Zakk and I are staying in Tennessee until we can bring our boy home.

Anyone that knows Mav knows what an absolute sweetheart he is. They also know the very sad story of why he is blind. So just in case this gets shared and there's people that don't know, I will tell the story although I must warn that it is graphic. Close to a year after we rescued him someone held him down and stabbed both of his eyes out. Maverick made it back home to us on his own. We had looked for him for hours. He was cold a severely injured, but still wagging his tail. This resulted in a surgery to remove what was left of his eyes. We have let Mav live like a king everyday since. He's our best little buddy and there's nothing we would not do for him. Thank you for taking the time to read this. Thank you if you can donate because it means the world to us.
