Save Matthew Lemberger's Life & Return from India

Please help bring my Father back to the United States in a safe and healthy manner. While on vacation in India, my Father, Matthew "Levi" Lemberger became very sick due to the unexpected and total lockdown of India in the country's response to COVID19.  He was not able to find food or water to drink for THREE days, became severely dehydrated, and ended up with urosepsis (an infection that has spread to his blood stream).

He has fought for his life in the ICU for three weeks with IV antibiotics, and although weak, he is about to be discharged and has been deemed “fit to fly.” Under normal circumstances I would not want him to travel, but he needs to come home to get the medical attention he requires.

Congressman John Yarmuth’s office has taken point in the combined efforts of State Senator Julie Raque Adams, Senator McConnell’s staff, and a number of Rabbis. Congressman Yarmuth has arranged for us to purchase a ticket on a repatriation flight on Monday, but we need to transport my Father to the Chennai airport from the hospital, which is either a 15 hour road trip through numerous checkpoints or via a very expensive air ambulance.

My Father has health insurance that does not cover the cost of medical transport home and he did not qualify for purchasing an "emergency travel plan" due to the length of his anticipated vacation. My Father is a good person. He is a retired teacher, who taught thousands of illiterate adults how to read and write. He assisted individuals with disabilities and has dedicated his life to helping others.

I am a nurse with three children, two of whom have special needs. I am an only child with no extra resources and am doing my best to help my community stay healthy during this COVID19 epidemic. I have used up all my savings to pay for his medical expenses in the hospital because you must prepay for services and then pay your entire bill upon discharge even if you have American health insurance. We are working on insurance filing as well, but that could take months for reimbursements.

Any amount helps. If you have $5 or $5000, please help. I need to bring my Father, Matthew Lemberger, home.
