Maryland Meadworks has enjoyed 7.5 years of bringing music, community and mead to the Route 1 Corridor.
Unfortunately, sales revenue has not kept up with skyrocketing expenses and we are losing money. So we need to make changes and raise funds from our beloved community before we can commit to a lease beyond the end of this year.
Otherwise, we will close our doors on December 31, 2026.
These funds will be used for
- Cashflow to help cover current operating expenses including rent, staff salaries, honey, etc. while we adjust our business model.
- Funds to invest in longer-term changes like exploring beer licensing options that would expand our alcohol offerings beyond the mead we produce, in response to customer demand.
Goals:
- Raise $25k by August 15, 2026: allows us to sign a lease extension this fall to stay open beyond 2026. This goal would allow us to operate in a break-even state that still relies on Ken and Rumi to volunteer their time to operate.
- Raise $45k by December 31, 2026: allows us to explore longer-term changes to thrive and support the community, as well as our family.
Thank you for your support!
We love you,
Ken & Rumi
