Help Marshall: A Rescue Dog's Need

Donation protected
Hi, some of you may remember back in December 2024 RescueLove shared Marshall's story. In June 2024, Marshall was abandoned at a fire department in the City of Syracuse; he sat outside in their grassy area all day in the rain and thunder, waiting for his family to return until finally he was picked up and brought to a local animal shelter. Six months later, Marshall was invited back to the fire station to visit his friends and make a video to gain some exposure to hopefully find his forever family. 15 THOUSAND views and a few short weeks after that, we got the wonderful news that all of our dreams were coming true! A lovely couple, Anna & Chris—first responders no less—saw our video of Marshall, filled out an application, and scheduled a time to go meet him with their dog Cora! It was love at first sight for all three, so they completed the paperwork, and a few days after that, Marshall was on his way home.

Anna has stayed in close contact with us at RescueLove, and we offer as much support as we can. On April 15th, we got a message that Marshall had been vomiting excessively all day. Later that night, after continuing to vomit and be restless, they brought Marshall to the emergency vet in Rochester where he ended up having to be admitted for IV fluids, meds, x-rays, and bloodwork. The starting estimate Anna & Chris were given for Marshall's care was $2,400, which has already climbed to $3,400.

The update from the hospital as of this morning is:
The doctor thinks he has an intussusception at the stomach right before his intestines start. So at the duodenum, it is like telescoping, not letting him drain through. So his stomach just keeps filling with acid and saliva and the normal stuff with nowhere to go. So, they’re placing the nasogastric tube now to keep it drained and so he doesn’t aspirate. The day doctor was like, I know the plan was to do more x-rays, but with what I’m thinking is going on, that wouldn’t get me what I need to diagnose it. So they are going to do an ultrasound. If it’s the intussusception thing, then he’d need a specialist surgeon to do the surgery.

Adopting a new dog comes with its ups and downs, and nowadays a lot of people do not have the time, patience, or funding to work through it. We are so thankful for Anna, Chris & Cora for not giving up on this sweet Marshall boy.

Please donate to Marshall's care if you are able. If not, at least please share his story and offer thoughts and prayers for this drooly, happy, sweet, loving young man. RescueLove will be matching donations up to $1,000.

We will provide updates as they come.
