Help Support Marley’s Surgery and Recovery

Marley was rescued three years ago from Riverside County Animal Shelter, a kill shelter, at just three months old—she weighed only five pounds. Today, she’s a seventy-pound bundle of love, but she’s now suffering from intermittent paralysis in her hind legs.

Marley is not just a dog.
She is a special member of our pack.
She loves car rides and lives for chicken snacks, especially Chick-fil-A nuggets. (She swears they’re made for dogs!)

Marley is a proud Sagittarius. She’s full of energy, hates being confined, and loves people—especially men. Anyone who knows her will tell you the same. Our family, her vet’s office, and her longtime doggie daycare, Dog Spot, have all seen it firsthand. Especially Conner—she lights up every time she sees him.

She also has two besties that she absolutely adores—Candace from Dog On The Run and Christina at Vons Grocery Store. They’re her soul sisters in energy. They match her sparkle, and Marley completely lights up around them.

And don’t get me started on her ball obsession. Soccer balls, tennis balls, anything round. She plays with her whole heart. She lives to play. ⚽

But lately, Marley’s sparkle has started to dim.

One day, her hind legs just gave out. After multiple vet visits, x-rays, and bloodwork, we were told Marley has a herniated disc pressing on her spinal cord. We tried everything—rest, gabapentin for pain, strict activity control—but her symptoms keep returning. Her legs twitch when she sits. She struggles to stretch. She’s even had accidents indoors—something she never did before. She was prescribed a medication to reduce spinal inflammation, but unfortunately, it caused acute liver failure. We had to stop treatment immediately.

Her vet gave us a warning: if Marley loses the use of her legs again, we will have less than twenty-four hours to get emergency treatment—or she may never walk again.

To save her mobility and give her a pain-free life, Marley now needs:
  • An MRI to confirm the spinal damage
  • Likely spinal surgery to relieve nerve pressure
  • Recovery, medications, and post-operative support

Estimated Medical Costs:
  • MRI: $2,000 to $3,000
  • Surgery: $6,000 to $10,000
  • Recovery care and medications: $1,500 to $2,000
  • Total Goal: $10,000 to $12,000

I know times are hard for many, so if Marley’s story speaks to you, we would be deeply grateful for your support—whether through a donation, sharing this page with someone who might be able to help, or simply sending kind words and prayers. It all truly helps.❤️

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for reading, supporting, and believing Marley deserves a second chance to run, play, and sparkle again.

With deep gratitude,
Marisa and Marley
