Help Maria Gabrielly Save Her Sight

My name is Veronice Costa, and I’m reaching out today on behalf of my cousin Jamara, a devoted single mother of two beautiful girls. Her youngest daughter, Maria Gabrielly, is just 13 years old and already facing a challenge no child should ever have to endure: the possibility of losing sight in her left eye.

At the age of 10, Maria Gabrielly was diagnosed with Epiretinal Membrane and Exotropia in her left eye, serious eye conditions that have required careful monitoring by a retina specialist. Unfortunately, at her most recent appointment in early July, her doctor gave heartbreaking news: Maria Gabrielly needs emergency eye surgery to preserve the remaining vision in her left eye. While the surgery won’t fully correct the issue, it is critical to prevent permanent vision loss.

This is just the beginning; it will be Maria Gabrielly’s first of multiple surgeries needed to protect her eyesight. As you can imagine, this is overwhelming news for any family, especially for Jamara, who is doing everything she can to care for her daughters on her own.

And here’s the hardest part: they don’t have health insurance, and the cost of this first surgery alone is $26,000.
