Save Maleficent: A Rescued Cat's Fight

Donation protected
Hi, there. As most of you know, I took In Maleficent and 4 of her babies off the street in July of last year. It was believed that the person who lived in the house I was renting before me, left her on the street when they moved. She always came around Shelby and I, and was so friendly and sweet.

One day, I looked out my window and saw something small and black running along side the Next door neighbors house. It was a kitten! And then another. Then our sweet girl came out and the other 4 followed. She felt comfortable enough with me to show me her babies. I knew then I couldn’t let them live their lives under a porch; so I took them into my home. With help from family and friends, I created a very comfortable and loving environment while taking care of my own 2 cats and 2 dogs- Shelby had already been stationed here in North Carolina at the time with our other pup.

After a few months of caring for the 4 babies and Maleficent, I found 3 loving homes for the other kittens - I ended up keeping her and Thackery Binx as our connnection was so strong. We are a family.

I had moved my our dogs to NC with my wife and then came back for our 4 cats. We all drove together 12+ hours in our loaded truck. In October, Shelby went up to let 2 of our dogs out and saw that my soul dog, Mack, couldn’t get out of his crate. His back legs wouldn’t work. We took him to emergency vet and found out he had cancer. There was nothing we could do.

Cancer took my father in the beginning of last year and then my soul dog. I am here asking for help and prayers as I cannot hold another loved one while they die. Maleficent has a rectal prolapse again. This happened last week and we thought we were in the clear after she came home from surgery, unfortunately we are not. We now need life saving extensive surgery. I know this is asking a lot, and again I am humbled by having to ask for this kind of help, but we just cannot lose another loved one. She is still happy and so loving. After her surgery last week, she’s turned into a new kitty - her personality is blooming. She feels safe.

I know this is a big ask for an animal, but you never know the extent you would go when it’s your own. She is our family. These animals are more to us than animals. They greet us when we come to them, they love us as we love them. They depend on us. Please, help us if you can.

thank you,
Jennifer (Brown) & Shelby Cummings
