This is Major. Major is three years old, and was born in October of 2021. About a week and a half ago we had noticed a significant mood change followed by some shortness of breath. We took him to the emergency vet and he was diagnosed with double pneumonia. After a couple of nights in the hospital, he came home with antibiotics and strict instructions to limit his activity. Four days later, he started coughing up blood. We took him back to the emergency vet, and they determined that his pneumonia had gotten worse. After another overnight stay, we were referred to an internal medicine specialist at a different hospital. After several days and lots of tests it was determined that our beloved Major had, in fact suffered an untreatable lung torsion (twisting). The only treatment is to have most of his left lung removed. He needs this surgery to survive. We have already spent our entire emergency fund (upwards of $10,000)… the surgery includes traveling out of town, several overnight stays, etc. We appreciate everyone’s support!
