Save Maisy's Sight: Fund her Life-Changing Surgery
Don protégé
Hi! My name is Kristin (aka Maisy's mom), and I'd love to share a little bit about my incredible girl.
Maisy was diagnosed with diabetes in December 2023 at the age of 6 and has been insulin-dependent ever since. Like diabetes in humans, this condition comes with challenges- one of the most common being diabetic cataracts, which often lead to blindness. Sadly, Maisy wasn't able to avoid this complication.
About six months ago, Maisy developed diabetic cataracts, and her vision has rapidly declined. Today, my sweet girl is almost completely blind.
Here's the good news: there is a surgery available that can restore Maisy's sight!
And the hard part: the cost of the surgery, along with the follow-up care, testing, and medications, is significant.
Without treatment, diabetic cataracts can lead to severe uveitis, secondary glaucoma, and even the loss of the eye(s). At just 7 years old and weighing 30 pounds, Maisy still has many years of life ahead of her. My goal is to make sure they're as healthy and happy as possible.
As a social worker, I pour my heart into helping others, but my resources are limited when it comes to covering unexpected medical expenses like this. That's why I'm reaching out for support to help Maisy get the surgery she needs.
If I'm fortunate enough to raise more than the cost of the surgery, any additional funds will go directly toward her long-term diabetic care.
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for taking the time to read Maisy's story. Whether you donate, share, or simply spread the word, you're helping me give my girl the life she deserves, and I'm so deeply grateful for your kindness.
With love and gratitude,
Kristin and Maisy
