Save Luna's Paw: Support Her Healing

Luna is our 3yr old American Bulldog, she is one of our family members, the baby sister of the family. On July 19th we noticed she had a wound right around her paw as if something had been tied around it, we investigated and inspected the wound to discover that my 5yr old had placed a friendship bracelet (rubber band) on her, we did not find a rubber band during inspection and immediately called the vet. The vet (over the phone) assumed Luna may have gotten the band off and has just irritated the wound with licking and scratching it, she recommended a cone to prevent infection. By Monday July 22nd the wound was significantly worse! Showing layers of skin and oozing with infection, we rushed her to urgent care where they found that the rubber band had embedded itself in the wound and required surgery to remove it in order to save her paw while leaving Luna with an open wound and fighting an infection. She’s still at risk until the infection is gone and will need weekly (4/6 weeks) follow ups to monitor the wound until it’s recovered.

Between the medication, surgery and vet follow ups, it cost 1190.00.
