Hi, I’m Heidi. My four-year-old cat, Lunar, suddenly developed labored breathing, lethargy, and loss of appetite. At the vet we discovered fluid around his lungs—so much on the right side that he could barely use it. He was transferred to AVECCC for sedation and a thoracentesis, and the fluid turned out to be blood.

Lunar got a CT scan and the results were heartbreaking. They discovered multiple masses (1/2"-2" each in diameter) in and around his lungs. And also a lesion on the muscle in his left leg. It was undeniably cancer... that was already metastasizing. One of the masses had ruptured which was the cause of all the blood. When he was taken off oxygen he started turning purple. So we had no choice but to put him down that day.

The total for all the bills for everything we have done came to around $10,000 and I have no savings and can barely keep up with my regular bills. My dad has helped as much as he can, but we’re overwhelmed. He didn't have the money either but had to use Care Credit.

Lunar was my best friend and my therapy; his sister misses him and looks for him throughout the house. If you’re able, please donate anything you can—every bit helps. If you can’t donate, a share means the world. I’ll post updates as we get them.
