Dear friends,
Lulu here! I am starting this campaign in hopes of raising money to aid in acquiring immediate care and attention in regards to my medical condition. Since 2019 I have been suffering from cysts and fibroids on my ovaries which have a debilitating effect on my physical ability to function, coupled with emotional and mental stress. As is well documented, medical professionals consistently discount the real pain that women feel, leading to under funded research, misdiagnosis or a lack thereof.
As a result of the pandemic, in early 2020 I lost my housing, my job, and have been in an extremely dire financial situation, which has made access to healthcare scarce. On a regular basis, this unknown illness has left me incapacitated, unable to work, unable to pay rent, and has led to countless hospital visits. Each hospital visit leaves me physically, emotionally, and mentally drained, without any answers – a quick fix with fluids for the day to literally replenish what I have lost.
For the last few months, I have been looking to friends for help with housing and finally have a place to rest, but I need your help. I need the funds to get a proper diagnosis, treatment and care in order to improve my quality of life and stop living hospital visit to hospital visit. These funds will help with treatment, possible surgery, recovery, housing, and follow up visits.
These will greatly improve the quality of my life, allow me to follow my dreams and passions as an artist and carpenter. As a queer, black woman, I am ready to flourish and contribute to my community, share my art and help other people in my situation. As a way to show my appreciation and gratitude, I will be creating custom pieces to send to you.
