A few days ago, our world turned upside down.

In the middle of the night, our sweet 3-year-old golden doodle, Lulo, suddenly began gagging non-stop but couldn’t bring anything up. His belly grew slightly swollen, and the groans turned into piercing screams of pain. Within minutes, we realized he was running out of time.

We rushed him to the ER, terrified. By the time we arrived, he had only a small window left. His stomach had twisted — a deadly condition called bloat (GDV) that kills within hours if untreated. Thanks to the incredible vet team, your prayers, and a miracle of timing, he was stabilized and into life-saving surgery by 4 AM. Without it, we would have lost him.

Right now, Lulo is recuperating. Each day he’s kept sedated so he can rest and heal without risking his stitches. It’s heartbreaking to see our goofy, playful boy so subdued, but we’re endlessly grateful he’s still here with us. His spirit is strong, and we know he’s fighting to get back to wagging, zoomies, and cuddles.

The biggest hurdle has been the emergency surgery itself. The medical bills from that night are overwhelming, and while we’re hopeful his recovery will go smoothly with just a few follow-ups, the cost of saving his life is more than we can handle alone.
