An update for you all!
I’m very happy to report that I’ve been battling hard here and can quite confidently make the decision to lower the original goal of £60,000 to Help Save Lovers Lane Studios all the way down to just £25,000! With nearly £10,000 already raised by so many of you amazing and generous people ❤️☯️
I have big updates coming very soon to fill you in on all the goings on, what
plans are afoot for the building and what’s coming up soon including the opening of some brand new rooms and news on my cherished sound therapy, meditation and wellness project with Lucy ‘Rise’ Donovan - The ASUR Body Centre CIC ☯️❤️
But for now and as always, thank you so much to all who have been kind enough to donate to and share this fundraiser
I haven’t thanked you enough
A brief look at a lifelong story…
Lovers Lane Studios, located in Dumfries, is more than just a recording studio—it’s a vital creative and wellness hub for the local community. Owned and operated by Grant Henderson, the studio has been a labour of love, hand-renovated by Grant with help from the whole Henderson family and countless friends over the past 12 years. All built on a 40-year legacy in music, in one of Dumfries’ historic Scottish heritage sites
This unique building isn’t just home to music recording. It also houses:
• A dance and fitness studio used by local instructors and community groups
• A band rehearsal space that supports both up-and-coming and established musicians
• An upcoming Community Interest Company (CIC) dedicated to wellness and sound therapy, aimed at helping people through music, mindfulness, and healing practices
Grant, who has battled chronic health conditions including gastroparesis, ADHD, and anxiety disorders for much of his life, has poured everything into creating this space. Despite the daily struggles, he continues to show up and provide vital services and safe, inspiring spaces for others.
But now, this creative sanctuary is at risk.
Dumfries and Galloway Council, from whom the former Loreburn St John’s School building is currently rented, are planning to terminate Grant’s lease in the coming months, unless it can be secured by purchase. Traditional lending isn’t an option due to Grant’s health and financial constraints, and council-linked funding is not available for this situation.
We are urgently trying to raise a further £60,000 to:
• Secure the building
• Complete essential renovations to keep it safe and functional
• Protect Grant’s livelihood and the future of this vital creative hub
Lovers Lane Studios has supported countless musicians and creatives from Dumfries and beyond, including the likes of Dame Joanna Lumley and Eddie Reader. This is a one-of-a-kind space that uplifts the community—and we can’t let it disappear.
Please consider donating whatever you can. Every pound gets us closer to saving this space. And if you can’t donate, sharing this campaign is just as powerful.
Thank you for standing with us, with Grant, and with everyone who finds inspiration at Lovers Lane.
