Save Loki: Urgent Funds Needed for Medical Care

My name is Josh. Several years ago I was reluctantly accepted by my girlfriend’s cat Loki. Loki didn’t care too much for me at first but eventually she adopted me as her father. Loki was always a chubby cat and would have to stay on the low part of our cat tree that she shares with her brother Yoda. After getting her weight back under control Loki started to gain the confidence to reach the top part of the cat tree (often kicking out her younger more athletic brother to become queen of the mountain). Yesterday 8/28 Loki suffered a freak accident. Loki tried reaching the top of the cat tree and somehow knocked it over on top of herself resulting in a broken jaw. We aren’t sure how long she had been injured before we discovered her as my girlfriend and I both worked double shifts that day. When I came home from work I seen her with her tongue hanging out of her mouth and her face swollen up and she was drooling all over. We are now on our way to a 3rd specialist who will hopefully have the means to help repair our baby’s broken jaw. We are in need to raise whatever we can to help afford her medical care. They are anticipating somewhere between $8000-$10,000 in total. I know the average person would say a cat isn’t worth that much money but I’m not the average person and our Loki certainly isn’t an average cat. She is a member of our family and has brought great joy and healing to both my girlfriend and I in some of our hardest times. We would truly appreciate anyone who is able to donate or share our story on social media.

UPDATE 8/29 4:07pm : We are currently at the 3rd clinic since the accident. Loki has a vertical mandibular fracture in her jaw. Her internal vitals are good. She is getting prepped for surgery now.

UPDATE 8/29 8:53p : surgery was successful. After they did 3D imaging they discover multiple fractures in her jaw. She is going to have her jaw wired shut for 6wks. Although uncomfortable they expect she will make a mostly full recovery but she may have to have a few teeth extracted later down the road. Good news is they were able to wire her in a way that will allow her mouth to stay partially open so she can try to eat wet food without having to have a feeding tube.

so far we are in for about 6k with another 3k due in a few weeks to remove her hardware.

Thank you everyone who has supported. This means the world to us.
