Save Lobo: Urgent Medical Care Needed
Donation protected
Hello everyone,
My soon-to-be 9-month-old kitten, Lobo, got into some plastic on Tuesday, April 22, 2025. He woke up around 5 AM Wednesday throwing up. I was able to see two of the pieces he swallowed and figured he threw everything up.
However, I noticed he wasn’t being himself, not wanting to eat on his own, loafing, and he seemed in pain.
I took him to his regular vet on Friday. The vet took some X-rays but didn’t see any signs of obstruction, and she could not tell where the remaining plastic was.
She recommended a radiologist consultation, which I declined due to cost at the time. She prescribed some medication in case it would help Lobo throw it up or help him pass it.
By Saturday night, due to him not improving, I took him to an ER vet as his GP recommended. X-rays were repeated at the ER clinic and were sent to a radiologist then. The radiologist mentioned they did see the plastic “at the end of his stomach,” not reaching the intestines yet. The doctors were worried it wouldn’t pass and mentioned surgery might be needed.
My primary option before surgery was to leave him overnight with some fluids as he was very dehydrated. When I returned Sunday morning, they took updated X-rays and noticed the plastic was now “floating” in his stomach.
There was still no sign of obstruction in his intestines yet, but doctors are worried it will move down to them. The vets are also worried the plastic will cut through his intestines if it ends up moving down.
They gave me the option to have him go through surgery with a scope to see if they can get the plastic out without having to undergo surgery with an incision. If the scope is unsuccessful, he will have to undergo surgery. Which I cannot afford.
Please consider donating. Lobo is my baby, and I just want him to be okay. I know inflation has been hitting us all, but please, anything helps.
Please help me by sharing if unable to donate, it could save Lobo’s life.
Thank you all.
