Save lives - Water is Life - Clean waters, bright futures

Over the past couple of months, my heart was so deeply impacted after witnessing images and videos of children suffering and dying from drinking contaminated water. Their health complications caused by their water supply being devastatingly polluted by oil and mining companies..

I saw mothers with their little ones in their arms, struggling to breathe, as they coughed up blood, and children with swollen bellies and burns to their skin from exposure to mercury and other heavy metals, that their river is now polluted with. I saw children needing emergency airlifting as they could not make the SIX DAY WALK to medical help... they were not making it to hospital.

I couldn't un-see it.

The river is the only water they have access to.

As a mother, this hit me so hard.

Imagine not being able to give your child safe water to drink? And to know that the water you're relying on to wash, to grow food, to clean and to drink and to fish from has been poisoned... ?

These children in the Achuar communities in the Amazon in Ecuador are struggling to survive. The government provides no assistance to these communities, so their families are having to come to terms with great loss and an unfathomable task of solving this problem.

Because of my deep love for the waters, and children, and life to come, I have not been able to turn away.. so here I am, helping to be a voice for these people who are so vulnerable and in need of urgent help, before more children die.

When this calling came, I initially had a sense of urgency that felt like desperation.. as this situation is so urgent.. but it is evolving to become an invitation and co creation of a prayer, for all of us to come into right relationship with the waters.. with life.. and to do something good, where we can.. BECAUSE WE CAN.. and to act on this from a place of collaboration with a sense of empowerment in being able to assist these people who are so needing our help.

The rivers are their life, and directly affect their health and future. These waters are the lifeblood of the forest and the people who protect it..

This is why I’m standing with Paco Yunkar and the Achuar communities of Mashuim, Surik, and Wichimi. This project is more than clean water, it’s about restoring life, hope, and balance.

It’s a chance for us to join as a current of love in alignment with life.. together as one, to protect the rivers of life, and to turn the tide toward healing.

Indigenous leader Paco Yunkar is seeking to raise $15,000USD to cover the cost of purchasing materials and installing safe water for communities.

By donating to this project, you play an important role in supporting the health of an Amazonian community that actively protects hundreds of thousands of hectares of Amazon rainforest and all its biodiversity.

This project seeks to provide safe drinking water to the three Achuar communities of Mashuim, Surik, and Wichimi. It defends 958,000 hectares of primary rainforest in the Ecuadorian Amazon, in the province of Pastaza.

The project is coordinated by young Achuar leader Paco Yunkar.

Every donation, no matter how small, will directly impact the health and well-being of the families of Mashuim, Surik, and Wichimi, helping them obtain drinking water and sustain their initiative to conserve the Amazon. This call is urgent because these communities do not have safe drinking water and their rivers are being polluted by oil, mining, and logging companies.
