Cardiac arrest or sudden cardiac death is defined as such because it occurs without warning symptoms. In Italy, every year, cardiac arrest affects around 73,000 citizens, equating to more than 200 cases per day or one every 7 minutes. Often, waiting for an ambulance to arrive is not sufficient to save a life.
This is where the Marano Principato project "Comune Cardio Protetto" steps in. The initiative aims to make Marano Principato a safer and more resilient municipality by strategically placing external semi-automatic defibrillators (AEDs) throughout the area.
Citizens, referred to as Guardian Angels, who volunteer for this project undergo careful training in the use of these intuitive devices. Their intervention can significantly increase the chances of saving a life by up to 60%. Trained citizens can then choose whether to provide their contact information for emergency response purposes.
The underlying message of this project is that the assistance of a single individual can make a crucial difference in saving a human life. With the Marano Principato project "Heart Safe Municipality," the essence of community is highlighted—a community where everyone collaborates for the collective safety and social responsibility of Marano Principato.
Why should you join Marano Principato Cardio Safety?
Merely providing public locations with AEDs may not suffice to save lives. Therefore, to achieve this goal, we need the support of everyone. This includes organizing public meetings, raising awareness, and fostering a culture of early public defibrillation. Your participation can make a significant impact in creating a safer environment for all.
