Save Lives: Spay - Neuter & Vet Care For Abandoned Pets.

Hello, my name is Elisa from Wild to Tame Pet Services Inc. I am raising money to fund spay and neuter clinics, emergency vet care, and overall health and wellness for pets in desperate need. This mission aims to prevent the overpopulation of dogs and cats in low-income communities and to provide healthcare for abused, abandoned, and neglected animals.

All funds raised will be split equally and given to two animal rescues in Uvita, Costa Rica — both of which are making a huge impact in their communities:

• Perra Vida

• El Refugio Costa Ballena

Wondering how much you should donate, or how your money helps?

Here’s a breakdown of typical costs to help dogs and cats in need:

• $35 – Spay or neuter one animal at a low-cost clinic

• $55 – Care for one cat for one month (food, medicine, and litter)

• $65 – Care for one small-to-medium dog for one month (food and medicine)

• $200 – Bottle-feed a litter of 5 kittens for one month

• $250 – Rescue one malnourished dog (tests, medicine, and spay/neuter)

• $11 – Each vaccine

Perra Vida - is a non-profit animal rescue whose main mission is hosting spay and neuter clinics, also known as “castration clinics.” To date, they have spayed and neutered 1,440 pets.

They help low-income communities by providing free or very low-cost spay/neuter services for dogs and cats, along with vaccinations. They also rescue and rehome abandoned, stray, and abused animals each year through their foster program.

Perra Vida is run by Grettel, a local who also owns Jungle Mamas Kombucha Brewing & Co. A large portion of her business profits goes directly to helping these animals in need.

Funds raised for this rescue will cover the cost of spay/neuters, vaccines, medical care, and food for animals in foster care.

El Refugio Costa Ballena - is a non-profit, no-kill shelter for dogs and cats. The shelter is home to many stray and abandoned animals who live there until they are adopted. They also assist strays and pets from low-income families. To date, they have helped 1,080 pets and spayed/neutered 5,600 animals.

The rescue is run by a small staff and a dedicated team of volunteers. They also work with local foster homes to care for animals outside the shelter.

Funds raised will help cover spay/neuter clinics, vaccines, medical care, food, supplies, and housing for shelter and foster animals.

Why I Chose These Two Rescues

The answer is simple — both need our support, and both are close to my heart. I have volunteered my time and donated to each of these rescues many times over the years. I’ve seen the amazing things they do, so I couldn’t choose just one.

I will be returning to Uvita, Costa Rica, on September 19th, 2025, for my second visit this year — the location of both rescues. I’ll once again volunteer my time at their castration clinics (my main role is in the recovery pit, where I monitor animals coming out of sedation, remove ticks, clean ears, and trim nails).

I will also help with dogs who have behavioural challenges, using my professional training experience, and assist with other animal care tasks as needed.

Fundraising Goal

Is $5,000, so each rescue will receive roughly $2,500 after GoFundMe’s fees (2.9% + $0.30 per donation) are deducted. In addition, I will personally donate $500 from my own pocket.

The fundraiser will run from August 14th to September 15th, 2025.

Important Note

It will state that I am the beneficiary — this is only so I can split the funds between the rescues. The donations will go directly into my business account (Wild to Tame Pet Services Inc.) and then be equally distributed.
