Save little Cecily - help her fight FIP
Donation protected
Late on Friday 29 September we noticed our darling girl, Cecily, was finding it hard to breathe. We monitored her throughout the night and took her in to the vet as soon as we could the next day, worrying that she might have asthma... We had no idea that instead she was going to be diagnosed with a deadly disease that has only been legally treatable in the UK since August 2021: FIP (Feline infectious peritonitis ).
We were absolutely brokenhearted. The treatment for FIP is prohibitively expensive and with a new baby and one of us on maternity leave, we just don't have the resources to see her through the requisite 84 days of treatment. The success rate is 85-90%, so hope is high if she can complete it!
Cecily does have pet insurance but, because she is an indoor cat, we never imagined she would need more than £4000. Unfortunately, her diagnosis cost £2700 and the medication alone will cost £1640.46. On top of that she will need her chest drained at least once (£407.70 each time), multiple blood tests (£203.88), and an unknown number of vet visits. So we are turning to friends, family, and the cat loving community, to ask if you can help.
It feels like a huge amount of money but if all 1000+ followers of @theimportanceofbeingcats donated £2 or if 100 people donated £20, we would reach our goal.
Regardless of how you are able to help, even if it is just to share this gofundme, we are so grateful to you for your support. Thank you especially to those of you who encouraged us not to give up and suggested that we make this gofundme in the first place. She's only just over a year old, such a sweet and loving girl, and we simply can't bear to lose her.
(And for those of you in the UK with pets - get the highest pet insurance you can afford! We wish we had.)
Lounging on the pram.
Getting in her "baby is feeding" snuggles.
Snoozing with her older "brother" Bunbury.
